Centennials and Celebrations

In the year 2001, West Seneca began to celebrate its’ 150 Birthday. As part of the Sesquicentennial celebration and the opening of the newly created Burchfield Nature & Art Center, Dolores Mendolia and Jackie Albarella created a Historical Trolley tour. The tour took riders through West Seneca, stopping at key historic spots. At each of these stops riders were greeted by ” the residents who lived and worked there 150 years ago.” These actors were in period costumes and were students from West Seneca.  Characters portrayed included  Christian Metz, Barbara Heineman and other notables.

Traveling on a “antique” trolley car, complete with old time banners, the guided tour went from Gardenville through middle and upper Ebenezer, to the Historical Society  hearing the stories that brought West Seneca to life.
