Jackie Albarella inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame
Jackie was inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2022. The Buffalo Broadcasters Association recognizes the impact of Western New York natives and personalities that helped define and serve an important role in their respective broadcast fields. Jackie was recognized in part for her role as the first female engineer at a Buffalo television station. Among the other honorees were; Lucille Ball, Steve Tasker, Gene Jankowski, Susan Rose and Tom Fontana.
Inspiring Women of WNY
Inspiring Women of Western New York, sponsored by West Herr Auto Group celebrates the contributions of 60 extraordinary women who give their time, energy, expertise and resources to enhance the quality of life in Western New York. All proceeds from the book were given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of WNY.
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Hero of Hope Award
Jackie accepting The Hero of Hope Award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of WNY. The award is given to recognize a person for their commitment to creating awareness for CF and their efforts to help find a cure.
Women’s History Month Recognition
In recognition of Women’s History Month, Mayor Byron W. Brown honored Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, as well as Broadcast Host, Author, Photographer and Award-winning Producer Jackie Albarella and the Radical Women’s Night Out Committee, during the Women’s History Month program in the lobby of Buffalo City Hall.
Artifacts: Burchfield Themed Photographs by Jackie Albarella
The exhibition “Artifacts: Burchfield Themed Photographs by Jackie Albarella” was displayed at the Buffalo History Museum from September 7, 2022, to January 22, 2023. During the pandemic, Albarella revisited her collections of ephemera, inspiring her to create a new series of photographic images. These works uniquely incorporated items from the life of Charles E. Burchfield, Albarella’s childhood neighbor and a renowned watercolorist. The exhibition featured 8 digital photographs, each telling a story through collages that evoke nostalgia, the value of sentimental items, and the essence of different eras.
An Evening with Jackie Albarella at the West Seneca Library
Jackie spent the evening with a great crowd at the West Seneca Library.
She was happy to discuss her book, “Women in the City of Good Neighbors”. She told the stories of many of the women profiled in the book, and how their efforts have made our city great.
All of the money from the books sold during the event went directly to Suneel’s Light Foundation , the sponsor of the book. Suneel’s Light is working hard to find a cure for Duschenne Muscular Dystophy.
Suneel Ram’s Book Launch

Suneel is the inspiration for Suneel’s Light Foundation which works to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Jackie’s book Women in the City of Good Neighbors was sponsored by and raised funds for Suneel’s Light.
